Achilles Tendinopathy is a chronic condition, affecting primarily middle-aged recreational athletes. Caused by micro-tears and inflammation to the Achilles Tendon, the incidence of Achilles tendinopathy is increasing in-part due to the rise in sporting activities among the general population.

Though there are varying methods of treatment utilizing traditional avenues, the use of Radial Pressure Wave Therapy has lately become effective in the management of Achilles tendinopathy.

Benefits of RPW Shockwave
RPW treatment, given in the right dose and for the correct indications, is an excellent treatment for many chronic conditions that other treatment methods can’t improve or heal. Radial pressure therapy is very well perceived among therapists thanks to its positive outcomes and its relatively short treatment period.

How to treat with RPW Shockwave?
Localize the painful points on the tendon. Work with the applicator on the pain points with very small circular movements. Treat over the Achilles Tendon in fiber direction but give the majority of the pulses from lateral or medial side of the tendon.

What parts do you focus on?
There are a few different transmitters included in a Shockwave that you can use for this injury. For example the D20 20 mm ESWT transmitter with Frequenzy: 15Hz. Pulses: 2000.

What’s the treatment time?
3-6 treatments with 5-10 days interval. Combine this treatment with a general activation of surrounding muscles.

How long is recovery compare to alternative treatments, like stretching?
According to recent studies, the recovery time is 5x faster using RPW Shockwave than any other rehab solution. Improvement can be seen within 2 weeks and up to 3 months after the treatment period is completed
